Spark is excited to announce an exciting partnership with Oasis for Girls on their upcoming RISE Life Skills program (a safe forum for young women ages 14-17 to discuss and get information on the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of young women) and the RISE Technology and Leadership Program(education and job training for young women ages 14-17).
Oasis is looking for volunteers for the following:
Financial Literacy Training, Career Day, Clothing Swap, Food Bank Shopper, Advisory Board Member and more.

Opportunity #1 - Tuesday, May 3, 4:30-6:30PM – Financial Education Training
Volunteer needed (1): Spark member Fiona Hsu/Union Bank will be presenting a short program on Financial Education and needs a Co-Presenter to help present the FDIC/Union Bank curriculum and bring healthy snacks. Please volunteer if you are available at this time and have a background or interest in financial education and encouraging young people to equip themselves with knowledge for their future.
Time commitment: 2 hours to prepare and 2 hours to present
Other commitment: Healthy snacks
Opportunity #2 – Thursday, May 12, 5:00-7:00PM — Career Day
Volunteers needed (10): RISE program participants have identified these occupations of interest. Do you work as any of the listed occupations? Do you love your job? Then, come share your career insights at Career Night.
Time commitment: 30 min call to prepare and 2 hours to present

Opportunity #3 – SUMMER TBD – Oasis Swap for Good
Volunteers needed (8): Needed to assemble clothing racks, organize/style clothes and help clean-up
Time commitment: 30 mins. call to prepare and 3 hours at the event
Other commitment: (1) Healthy snacks, (2) clothing donation (casual and work-clothing in good condition desired). Please email Fiona for details on drop-off if you cannot make the event.
Opportunity #4 – 2x a month – Reliable Food Bank Shopper
Volunteer needed (1): Help provide snacks to Oasis young women! We need volunteer support to do biweekly trips to the San Francisco Food Bank to pick up food for program.
Time commitment: 2x a month during Food Bank hours, 1 hour each trip
Other commitment: Normal size car and ability to lift a box of snacks
Opportunity #5 – Advisory Board Member
Time commitment: 2-year commitment, minimum 10 hrs./month to prepare and attend advisory board and committee meetings, fundraise and strategic planning.
Opportunity #6 – Fund-A-Need: Rock-climbing with GirlVentures
Funds needed: $500 to underwrite a day of strength and team-building through rock-climbing.
Opportunity #6 – Fund-A-Need: Computer Lab Upgrade
Funds needed: $5,000 or donation to replace 5-year old eMacs in the Oasis Computer Lab so TLP program participants can learn with the best tools available.
